Klara Espersen
visual artist & collagista
Under the name La Regina Collagista, artist Klara Espersen creates poetic, modern vintage collages.

Born in former Czechoslovakia in 1974, home was a collage of places all over the world for Klara: first Czechoslovakia, then Zambia, USA, Germany, England and now Denmark, where Klara lives on the island of Mors with her family.

Also her work-life is a cut and paste of professions: Even though Klara always knew she wanted to be an artist, she also tried out being a lawyer, an executive assistant, a marketing manager, a communications specialist and a graphic designer before finally dedicating all her time to her one true love: working as an artist.

Klara has loved to collect old pictures and photographs since she was a child. Over the years, her collection has grown into an entire studio located in a garden on Mors - filled from floor to ceiling with old books, magazines and photographs, that she has found on her many travels.

Equipped with scissors, glue and great patience, Klara creates her collages, which show a dreamlike world detached from time, space and the rules of gravity.
